The kitchen is where a home either delivers on its promise or doesn't. After fifty years of building fine homes and custom cabinetry on the coast of Maine, we know that no two kitchens are the same — and no two should be.

Hewes & Company builds fully custom kitchen cabinetry from the ground up. We don't start from a catalog. We start from your kitchen: its dimensions, its light, the architecture of the house, and how your family actually uses the space. Every box, door, drawer, and detail is built in our Blue Hill shop to your exact specifications.

We work in solid hardwoods — white oak, walnut, cherry, painted maple — as well as mixed-finish designs that combine painted uppers with stained lowers, or natural wood islands with full-height painted case pieces. We build inset, overlay, and shaker profiles, and we're equally comfortable with traditional raised-panel work and clean contemporary lines.

Our cabinetry is finished in our on-site spray booth, ensuring a factory-quality result on every painted or lacquered surface. Hardware, hinges, drawer boxes, and soft-close mechanisms are specified to match the caliber of the project.

We work directly with homeowners, interior designers, and the architects and general contractors building fine homes across Downeast Maine — from Blue Hill and Deer Isle to Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and beyond.
