Hewes & Company was founded in Blue Hill, Maine in 1975. Fifty-one years later, we're still here — still building.

What began as a small crew of craftspeople on the Blue Hill Peninsula has grown into one of coastal Maine's most respected building and fabrication companies. We build custom homes, fine cabinetry, architectural millwork, and marine structures for clients who know the difference between good and exceptional.

Our work spans the Maine coast — from the Blue Hill Peninsula and Deer Isle to Mount Desert Island, Castine, and the Penobscot Bay region. We collaborate with the region's leading architects and designers, and we take on projects others won't. Complex sites. Ambitious designs. Uncompromising material standards. That's where we do our best work.

Our cabinet shop, CNC machining, and marine fabrication divisions extend well beyond Maine. We regularly work with architects, designers, and boatyards from Boston to upstate New York — and for the right project, farther still. If you've found work you can't source locally at the level you need, that's exactly the kind of call we welcome.

In 2024, Hewes & Company became 100% employee-owned. Every person on our team has a stake in the outcome — which means when you hire Hewes, you're not working with a contractor. You're working with people who treat your project like it's their own.
